To
help you make the most of your visit to
Aylesford
Priory
We hope
that you will enjoy your visit to the Carmelite Priory, Aylesford,
and that these guidelines and resources will enable you to discover
more about this ancient Priory, the life of the friars who live
here and what it is that draws large numbers of people to this
holy place.
The resources
are intended to help you, and to enable teachers and other adults
who bring groups of children and young people, to plan their
time here. As well as information about the various features
of Aylesford, including the artists whose work helps to make
this a beautiful place, the guidelines make suggestions for
first time visitors as well as for those who return many times.
Teachers
will be able to adapt the guidelines to the age and ability
levels of their pupils. Some of the topics may be linked to
the National Curriculum or Religious Education programmes of
study while others provide opportunities for enrichment and
enjoyment. All, if used appropriately, will support spiritual,
moral, social and cultural education.
If you are
interested in an aspect of The Friars which does not yet feature
in these guidelines we would be delighted to hear from you and
to work with you in extending our resources. Please Email the
Shrine Secretary on annep@thefriars.org.uk
